I have DOR and need to do 3 IUIs before my insurance will cover IVF. My first IUI was just officially cancelled because I did not respond at all to Femara (5mg for CD3-7). Today is CD14 and I have no eggs maturing at all. I do typically ovulate on my own each month (confirmed by bloodwork) so my RE thought this was pretty unusual, and now he is having me take another 5 days of Femara starting tonight, but 7.5 this time.
Has anyone else had this kind of response to Femara before if you have DOR? And, has anyone doubled up on meds in the same cycle like this before if you weren't responding? Would love to know what stims worked for you (meaning you produced at least one mature follicle) as i want to discuss other options with my RE. |
| I'm sorryOP. Everything I've been told is that DOR doesn't respond well to stims? Are you at Shady Grove? I would not get your hopes up with IUI, and just get through them and prepare for IVF. Can you switch to Dominion? They have excellent results with DOR and natural cycle if you do ovulate each month. |

I have DOR. Just hang in there during the IUI's. Honestly you should find an RE that SPECiALIZES in DOR - times 1000 if you have insurance coverage for IVF. We had all of our lifetime coverage used because I went to "the best" RE in the area that had no idea what to do with me. When I did research I found a doctor that knew how to deal with DOR and had my DD on the first fresh cycle with them (was 100% OOP) by then.
It will be ok, just look into supplements and diet as well. Search this board and there are several threads about it with link. |
New poster. I have DOR and met with Dominion and they told me I would not be a good candidate for natural cycle IVF due to the DOR. That makes sense to me, if I have such few eggs that I only ovulate one good one per year or something like that, how could natural cycle IVF possibly be successful without a ton of tries? |
If you don't mind, could you share your RE's name whom knows how to deal with DOR? Thank you! |

I had DOR and responded badly to all varieties of stims. Because I was young (early 30s), my RE started with IUIs before moving to IVF. Of five rounds of IVF, all but one were downgraded to an IUI because of poor response and the one the wasn't produced one egg for transfer (and didn't work).
If you are responding that badly to stimulation and money is an issue at all, maybe start considering moving to donor eggs sooner rather than later. I have two kids (now 1 and 3) conceived easily with donor eggs. I wish my REs had leveled with me about my chances of success with OE. With severe DOR, the odds are very low but the DE odds are very high because the problem is usually just with the eggs. Good luck. |
SIRM (Sher) in NYC. Very good with DOR and are totally into immune issues. |
| i am old (44) with low AMH and decent FSH. i only do unmedicated IUIs at this point. i got pregnant twice in the past 6 months, it didn't work out unfortunately. |
