Trump knew he lost and MAGA was going to vote to release no matter what so he is trying to save face and thinks he has cover that they can’t be released because of the investigation Bondi announced. But, remember when Bondi said they reviewed the files and there was nothing to prosecute (paraphrasing here)? I’m not sure Jay Clayton will be willing to risk his reputation, career, and possibly future jail time to go along with this sham. He was a prominent and respected securities lawyer - I guess we will see whether he is willing to throw his life away for Trump.

Maxwell was still under investigation by the DOJ until Trump killed it when he took office in January. Trump could have released it then, but it has been a hit potato and now he has called for investigations into "democrats" to further stymie the release. Why not release the files that are not pertinent to the recently called for investigations?

I’ve read many pieces that refer to it being a “long climb” (or similar phrase) in the Senate.
