Somerset vs. Private

We live in Chevy Chase, MD and are deciding about what to do about schools for our DD. We're zoned for Somerset elementary which I've heard wonderful things about but I'd like to check out the various private schools in the area as well. Do many people in the area, even zoned for the great publics we are zoned for, choose to do private? Would you choose private over Somerset? Thank you!

Choose Somerset. There are some meh teachers, but none that are bad. Anyways, no place can have all great teachers. My biggest issue is the demographics-- large majority white, very rich area. Some kids are quite stuck up living in their little Somerset mansion bubbles.

Here's some actual data from the county on demographics and performance. Can't speak to everyone in the Somerset zone, but my street has a mix of parents who do private (Concord Hill, Washington Episcopal, Catholic private schools) and public.
