Chaffetz getting gripes from constituents — not Utahns, but those in D.C.

It's great that Utahns are waking up to the fact that their elected rep is spending more time on D.C.'s local politics than issues back home. Keep his phones ringing until he stops pestering the residents of D.C.!

If your garbage doesn't get picked up, if there's a pothole on your street, if you have a complaint about the schools or traffic, call Chaffetz's office.

If he wants to run DC, make him run DC.

I don't like Chaffetz much, but he was spot on and offered a roadmap for more voting power and local autonomy for Washingtonians: retrocede to Maryland.

The diehard pot bangers don't like that much, nor do the cronies, local politicians and pathetic "shadows" (all of whom would love to create the trappings and additional bureaucracy and patronage of a DC "state" government. But for most residents, it would work pretty well. Larry Hogan excepted, MD tends to elect Dems to statewide office, including the Senate, so it would be acceptable to the national GOP. And MD, which is considered a fairly well-run state (though not always decades ago), could just extend already established estate functions.

Yes retroceding to Maryland is a perfect plan except that neither Marylanders nor DC residents want it. But if you ignore the will of the people, by all means it's a great idea. I love the idea of calling Chaffetz office for school issues and potholes. Awesome!

So, you think a congressman from Utah can make the citizens of MD take DC.

I called Chaffetz to pick up the dead rat in front of my kid's school. Hope he comes soon!

We also need a new light bulb in our alley street light. Will call him later today.

11:03 again. I'm also calling Marco "need to raise my NRA rating so I'll pick on DC for a while" Rubio because my residential parking permit hasn't arrived yet. Wonder when he'll come by? I know my concerns are very important to him!

I no longer live in the district but I really love this! If these jerkoffs want to insert themselves into city governance, then they should be prepared to do the nitty gritty of governing!

It sounds to me like Chaffetz doesn't want DC to govern itself on any level, and this "retrocede to MD" idea is a way to get out of having to backseat drive all of our laws and governance while also not letting DC govern itself.

There are a lot of things in DC that are not done well, but I don't see that those things would be suddenly improved if suddenly we became Columbia County, MD.

Call him. You sure can't depend on DCPS to do it!

Jason Chaffetz's primary opponent is looking for feedback from DC residents regarding congressional oversight of DC. Let him know how you feel.

That would be DOH. And it has an extremely well managed rodent control office.

And the folks who remove graffiti are great too. I put in a request online and it was gone in 2 days.
I love this city. It's not perfect, but it's getting better all the time.

But to people in VA it hasn't changed a bit since the 90s
