How many people are smoking pot regularly? Do you know anyone using harder stuff, pills? Do kids smoke cigarettes anymore?
Do kids really feel pressured to get into colleges above their range? and if so, how do kids deal with that pressure? How many excellent teachers vs. rotten teachers have you had by grade? and are the rest average/acceptable? |

When, I was a freshman about 50 people had smoked pot at least once going into 10th grade. It is very, very prevalent. There's some molly (ectsasy) that floats around, but the harder stuff isn't talked about regularly, and the kids that have used it usually are in some kind of rehab/jail by now. Cigarettes are mostly seen as a "cool" thing to do. There is pressure to get into good colleges, but it's dependent on if you're AP/IB/normal. It really starts in junior year. How do they deal with pressure? Drinking, smoking, procrastinating. I've had maybe 4 bad teachers. Interestingly, 2 of them were gym teachers, who obviously did not care at all about the class (to be fair, neither did we). There are a lot of good teachers, only a few I would describe as excellent. |

The gangs are mostly around the Hispanic kids, and the groups usually self segregate. I'm not hispanic, so I haven't heard about any specific gang activity outside of some "cartel" operations involving white kids. I've never heard of a person doing heroin. People look at heroin like the bum-f*** drug from West Virginia. Coke, I've heard about some use, especially with wealthier kids. |
