Logistics of OBX

If you were to buy a house on the beach in NC, where would you buy?

What are the best places for kids to say, safely ride a bike? Is it a safely-ride-a-bike kind of place? (Or does one have to take a car to destinations?)

What are the best (highest quality) seafood eateries?

Is it true one has to cross a highway to safely reach the beach in some places of OBX?

What are the 'nicer' areas of OBX?

We went a couple years ago but were a little turned off by the high number of tattoos and tank tops. The "Brew Threw" type establishments didn't help either.

DH is familiar, and thinks it may be worth it, but I need to be sold on the idea, so to speak.

As a last resort, are there other places you would consider buying a single family vacation home? (We already have our favorites, but everyone needs to be happy, which isn't always easy....But we could always rent it out.)

Anyone familiar, on a first hand basis, with hurricane rebuilding there? I know NC has had rough storms in the not so distant past. (I think they no longer build on stilts?)

Any experienced input is appreciated! TIA.

You should try the northern OBX (Corolla, Duck, etc.). It sounds like you would like that better from your questions.
