Applying to private school in Japan, any guidance on how to answer "describe your kids personality." Do I mention weaknesses like perfectionist, chatty cathy or just give the kid raving reviews and exaggerate?

No.
You the previous poster about schools in Japan? I responded to your other post. Just be honest about your child. Talkative in class, visual learner, really like science, not great at writing essays, whatever. They are trying to get a complete picture of your kid, not have someone try to blow sunshine up their a$$. (Really). They do this a lot, and really want to know what will benefit your child. |

Here is what I'd say about my DD:
T is a happy girl who loves learning, especially science and math. She thrives with teachers who are equally strict and fair, and takes constructive criticism well. T is equally comfortable as a leader or a follower, and is an extrovert who sometimes needs a reminder to stop talking and listen. She is very loyal to her friends, and picks them well. Though T is smart, she forgets she has the ability to problem-solve and I am currently refusing to tell her what to do when she announces a problem, in an effort to get her to think of obvious solutions. T loves gardening, animals and music, but will never sing in public. |
| Its the opportunity for you to do your sales pitch. Be honest but don't say "not great at writing essays" you will never get a spot, especially in Japan. The PP who suggested that is out of her mind. |
