| Have a friend who just found out her son (in pre-school) has pretty severe peanut allergy. She lives in Alexandria school district. Are the elementary schools there nut free (like DC?) What's their policy if you don't mind sharing? |

Not sure about ACPS, but in FCPS, classrooms are marked as "peanut free" if there is a kid in there who has peanut allergies. That just means they won't eat peanut snacks in there. There are also "peanut free" tables in the lunch room. Kids who have allergies must eat at those tables and they can bring friends to those tables so long as the friends don't bring peanut products in their lunches.

This pretty much reflects ACPS too. One of our kids had a nut-free classroom and often sat with her nut-allergic friend at the nut-free table. |

Talk to the nurse or the principal if you think it's necessary. There are guidelines that they need to follow.
