Red state governors should be furious about this. Like a third of their residents or more are on Medicaid. 40% of the Speaker’s district.

The red state rednecks voted for him and, personally, I don't care if they die from lack of medical care.

When you say the quiet part out loud like that, you're not all that different from Trump and MAGA.

They are getting what they voted for.

No one voted for this. You just sound like a bad pets with your posts.

MAGA absolutely voted for this. It was in the GOP agenda known as Project2025.

Trump promised many times that he would not implement Project 2025. So no, no one voted for this. They voted for the opposite. Don't let your bitterness blind you.

Anyone with a quarter of a brain knew he was lying. His whole campaign staff were the architects of Project2025.

If they didn’t realize they were voting for this, then they are too stupid to vote.

Ron Johnson switches his vote so the bill passes the Senate.

It’s not bitterness. It’s just reality. Time and again, this board said that libs were elitist for pointing out that the GOP policies would hurt red states and that the GOP would cut Medicaid and Medicare. Libs were not to tell people that these policies were not in MAGA voters’ interests and that libs did not “know better” so people who voted for Trump definitely voted for this.

No surprise.
But this is what the GOP promised.

I can’t stop thinking about the rich guys who own the cancer centers in the south. SO much money came from Medicaid.

It was not a secret! Slashing “entitlements” has been on their agenda for decades. Project 2025 was out there for everyone to read. Quit acting like no one could have seen this coming. ANYONE paying attention saw it.

What did they give Collins and Hawley to abandon their faux crusade for rural hospitals? The bill is larger than the House bill, with more debt and larger debt ceiling. Yikes. They didnt even try to reduce the deficit

The second largest cut in Medicaid affects people who are on both Medicare and Medicaid, 1.3 million of whom will likely lose Medicaid benefits. These are people who are either elderly or have been disabled for at least 2 years, whose assets are less than $10,000, and whose incomes are less than around $14,000 for an individual.

A third of people enrolled in ACA will lost access to healthcare. KFF also gives as an example someone in Texas who expects to earn $15,500 in a year, so is eligible for ACA coverage and premium tax credits. When the year ends, it turns out they made $1000 less. Now they will have to repay about $6000 in premium tax credits. That will likely eat up any EIC for a few years at least.

If your 155,000/yr job ended up making you only 145,000, would you suddenly owe the government $60,000?

If the sentiment is truly “this isn’t what maga voted for” then maga better get on the phone and start badgering their elected officials incessantly to kill it.

As great as it would be I don’t think that they can. Emotionally and intellectually, his base is in too deep to disobey his commands.

Trump has a long history of lying. Voters decided to chalk this fact up to “trump derangement syndrome”. Maybe they can try healing crystals or voodoo?

Rich must get rich off the backs of the poor. Better to cut medical coverage for people instead of raising taxes on the wealthy. Wealthy people need their tax cuts! They have mega yachts to maintain.
