Acupuncturists Certified in Fertility

Apparently there are only TWO in the entire state of Virginia and Maryland. The rest of the acupuncturists are simply that, acu's without fertility training per se from what I was told. This test is apparently very hard to pass.

Anyone hear about this particular credentialing?

I have never heard of a fertility certification and I am an acupuncturist. Perhaps these people took a class that gave them a certificate but honestly we all take classes all the time and don't add them to our credentials as if we are any better for it. I would go with someone who is close to home/work, has a good reputation and you have a good vibe about. Most acu's will give you a free consult to get to know them and ask about their practice. This should help you choose who to go to.

I go to Kerri Westhauser in DC. She also has offices in VA and MD. When you Google acupuncture and fertility her name comes up in this area. She also has a certificate from the American Pregnancy Association in her office FWIW. I know that my RE referred me to her and that the majority of her patients are seeing her for fertility.

Check out Dr Fan in Mclean Va. He claims to have 23 pregnancies in 2 years.

I just got pregnant with the help of one of the acupuncturists in this area who is certified in reproductive medicine. Dawit Assefa in Old Town Alexandria. He is fabulous!

Curious, what kind of name is Dawit Assefa? Is he gentle with the needles. I'm nervous about it, esp ever since my own acupuncturist has actually bruised me popping blood vessels with the needles.

PP, if you don't mind me asking. How old are you? I'm probably much older than you so I sure could use all the help.

I am the 7:46 poster. Dawit is very gentle, I've never had any bruising with the needles. He also does reflexology and that can hurt a bit during treatment but does not linger. I'm sure he would have used a lighter touch if I'd asked but I didn't mind it, I just wanted to do whatever it took. He is Ethiopian but was mostly raised in this country and speaks perfect English, no accent. I am 39. Hope that helps!
