| Has anyone traveled to Costa Rica with a baby? I'm in a wedding 3 months after my due date in Costa Rica and would prefer to bring the baby rather than leave him/her so soon. We would be at a resort...any concerns/ vaccinations needed? |

We took our 9 month old with us to Costa Rica nearly two years ago and will go again this Fall with our new baby (5 months at the time of travel).
Check with the CDC website travel section to check the exact location of where you'll be so you can check on shots/ malaria info. We didn't do anything special for our kiddo. Are you nursing? You should be fully immunized if so. Definitely bring your own car seat- the one we had from Avis in Manuel Antonio/ Quepos (major resort area) was abominable! Most of the resorts have cribs etc. Do you know where you will be going? Some resorts even have childcare providers (Arenas del Mar in Manuel Antonio has an awesome woman). |
| Don't forget, baby will need a passport. Get that started soon, as it can take a long time, and can be a pain getting one for a child. Both parents and child usually need to be present for the passport appointment. |
| Just be careful with eating/drinking. I thought i had an iron stomach but both my husband and I got stomach bugs (although the kids were fine). I made the mistake of drinking the water and eating salad. Stick with cooked food, fruit that can be peeled and bottled water. This shouldn't affect your baby but you want to make sure you stay healthy. |
