Guiding Star Development Center

Is anyone enrolled at Guiding Star Development Center in Bethesda? I am interesting in hearing feedback on the caregivers and staff. Thanks!

Which location?

I have my daughter at the wilson lane one. Been there about a year and have been very pleased with the staff and the center. I spoke with several parents before I enrolled and all had good things to share.

I looked at the Wilson Lane location but ultimately did not enroll my infant there. I thought the center was fine - I liked the location; I didn't like that there was no refrigerator for kids in the toddler 1 room to put their lunches, snacks and drinks. I spoke to a few parent references, and most said they were only using the center before they went back to their own countries (must have been diplomats). Then I got to someone who was pretty frank - the caregivers prefer to work on Old Georgetown so there was a lot of turnover in the infant room (so if you're looking at that location, then this might not apply to you). In fact, this parent said she didn't feel comfortable giving me a review because all of the caregivers who were in the infant room when her son was there had left. I know for a fact that her son had only moved to the older room a few months before because I visited the center on his first day in the older room. The whole situation just left me feeling uncomfortable so I went with a more corporate daycare. I did like the Christian leanings, which you may or may not want.

Has anyone heard anything abou the Old Georgetown site? My husband and I toured the facility in the spring and thought it was nice. But, at the time, the toddler room only had 2 children. They were hoping to increase to 6. My son will be 1 in August and we were planning to move him there after his first birthday. Any feedback would be MUCH appreciated!

My son is at the Guiding Star location on Old Georgetown. He's in the infant room. There are now 6 infants so I believe all those slots are filled, but I'm not sure about the toddler room. We've been very happy with the caregivers there, they are all very experienced and obviously care about the kids. I have dropped by unannounced several times and have always been happy to see the ladies really engaging with the children. The director has always been very responsive to any questions or concerns I've had. Hope this helps!
