Is this okay? My child has allergies so I want to bring them in both carry on and check-in.
Just so it's not liquid.
Don't take "Fresh" anything or meats into the country you are visiting. You'll have to dump them before you go through immigration and customs. You'll have to do the same on your way back into the US. Packaged or processed are usually ok.
PP is right. You can take anything you'd like onboard the plane, but fresh fruits, carrot sticks, pepperoni, etc. will have to be eaten or trashed before you disembark. (There are usually no trash cans between the plane and the customs checkpoint.)
Yes - pretzels, popcorn, dried fruit are some options.
I just came back from an international flight with my 20 month old. Yes, you are allowed to bring a bag of food for immediate consumption (that you're gonna eat during the flight) and that will not count as a carry on item. You can also bring juice/formula/milk/water for kids, however, they want you to bring those sealed boxes of juice and they might test anything in a bottle/sippy cup. I had a sippy cup of water that was tested, but that only took a few seconds.
