| I've had a false positive or chemical pregnancy. Just wondering if anyone has ever had a false negative? |
| My friend did - including on a blood test. Did not realize she was pregnant until she was 3 months. |
What are the circumstances surrounding this? I find it hard to believe that all her tests, including a blood test (!!!) were all wrong. |

A chemical pregnancy is not a false positive. You were pregnant and miscarried. I'm sorry.
I've never had a false negative. There were times I tested too early and ended up pregnant on a later test but that's different. |
| I had a false negative at about 12 weeks (had been missing periods for 2 years). 4th pregnancy and I'm a chemist -- so I know how to properly perform a pregnancy test (twice). OB finally confirmed pregnancy at 18 weeks (after telling me my enlarged uterus was worriesome--she suspected a large tumor). |
This happened to a friend of mine. Not the blood test though just lots of home pregnancy tests. |
Well I once had a verrrry faint frer and my blood test came back <2 thus negative. The dr and myself were both stumped. I asked for another beta which came back at 39. It didn't double from there and ended up a mc. But it was really weird and I wondered at the time if there was a lab mixup. |
| Never had a false negative. Tested as early as 10dpo and had a faint positive. Confirmed via blood test. |
| had negative test when tested too early, which you may or may not consider a false negative. |
| Yes. I tested around 4 weeks (irregular period so didn't realize anything until I started to feel off). 1st test was negative but I just didn't believe it. That was one of the blue line tests. Did another one that was one of the "pregnant/not pregnant " tests and was positive. Follow up a week later actually confirmed I was about 6 weeks along. |
| I had two false negatives with HPTs. I took them a few days apart. When I still didn't get my period and was feeling queasy all the time I went in for a blood test which was positive. My DH and I joked that the HPT was the only test I ever failed. |
