| Mil and Fil are and always have been. Hate ethnic groups of all kind, the entire LBGTQ community, liberals, disabled, etc. Not an age thing, it has been this way for their whole lives. Open and vocal - at all family events. Oh, and they drink heavily, too! |

| All my family is more or less racist. They were brought up in the most narrow-minded and prejudiced household. My mother has been flexible enough to change her conscious worldview, even though the remaining knee-jerk reflexes will never disappear, but one of my aunts says the most awful things, which my cousin, her daughter, tries to shut down as soon as they come out of her mouth. It depends on the personality, OP. Some people never learn. My only satisfaction is that none of the new generation, ie, my cousins and I, are racist. We grew up in a different era, and it makes a difference. |

Racism is taught in the home by the parents. If your parents are like this and you don't make a concerted effort not to be, you probably got a little of it in you. Get cut off in traffic all of a sudden and you see the race of the person, wonder what words fly through your head. You may not say it but you might think it and that does matter |
