This was an interesting thread last year until it went off the rails (as thread in this forum are want to do. For reference: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/520019.page).
Have you had any good/bad/interesting impressions from open houses this lottery season? I was pleased to see on our community listserv today that Noyes had an excellent open house/tour today. With the saturation of kids in Brookland and Edgewood, I'm interested to watch this school, my IB. |
| Did you mean to say saturation of white or middle/upper income kids instead? Reading between your lines. |
Nope. With the saturation of kids. All kids. I've done my research. In previous years, Noyes had been less than 50% IB. IB includes now much of brookland, as well as Brookland Gardens, Edgewood Terrace, etc. I'm interested in a neighborhood school that is open for all neighbors. I live IB but didn't prefer an Education Campus model, because I don't think pk3 kids need to be in the same model as 8th graders. Im hopeful that Brookland Middle is creating a great environment for our older kids, so the Elementary campuses can focus on ECE and Elementary. Thanks for assuming the worst neighbor. |
