Singles?

Does anyone know of any colleges within say 5 hours of Fairfax, that offer single dorms (even to Freshmen?). Paying extra is fine, just not sure this exists...
Thanks!

Generally if your DC legitimately needs a single, the college will accommodate. My DS needed one due to his chronic illness and all the colleges we talked with understood and said no problem.

Williams has good dorms and you can get singles as a freshman.

hour and a half flight to hartford from dc.

2 hour drive from dc to williamstown.

it's in your radius.

Still has them in the Quad, Hill (though it'll be a single in a suite), and the high rises (a single room in an apartment) -- but there is NO guarantee at all that you will get one; lots of people apply for one.

I would guess there is some hierarchy that separates those who genuinely need a single room (for example, my daughter's friend was very immunosuppressed and couldn't share a room) and those who just have a preference for a single. OP didn't clarify which one it is for her kid, but a single room is an example of a reasonable accommodation and the college could get in trouble for not providing one for someone who legitimately needs it.

Yes. But I'd venture to guess there is a small % of people who REALLY need them for medical reason (like your immune compromised friend) and the school works with them; and a MUCH larger % of snowflakes/snowflakes' parents who demand them for the child's comfort who have a doctor attesting to snowflake status/aspie/whatever else.
