I posted upthread this story makes perfect sense if you think about her doing it with a thick fake Spanish accent. Her: “Mama, I met a wonderful guy-Ahleec Vahldween.” Her mom—who? (Repeat three times). Finally mom “oh—you mean Alec Baldwin? The guy from hunt for red October? Why didn’t you just pronounce it right to start with?” So I totally buy that her parents said that!

She also accepted and acknowleged online "awards" for best dressed Latina on multiple occasions with no correction whatsoever. Whatever color or culture she needs to use for attention is fine by her, as long as it's not WASP from Boston.

The people who cannot comprehend how this hurts the communities who ARE spanish/mexican/latinx/black etc have no idea what its like to actually BE a minority and face the consistent disadvantages of refusing to be a liar. Like yeah, for people who are white upper middle class, its advantageous to flip flop between being a spicy minority! But those minorities do not get to flip flop when they face the disadvantages and difficulties. A mexican working the average job making the average wage of a mexican population in a us state doesnt just get to wake up one day and say "actually im a rich white woman living in the upper east side eating brunch with my girls ever tuesday" and have people play pretend with them.
