This will be my daughter's third week at camp Sonshine. She is 5.5 and so far she loves it. Today is the latestay where they get to stay til 8 which she is sooo excited because that is her bedtime. They will be roasting marshmellows and hotdogs and sitting around the campfire tonight. I hear great things from my daughter everyday. They are very caring and loving and my daughter runs to the bus stop and can't wait to get to camp each day. I love the little things about the camp such as the welcome phone call the night before the session begins to talk to your camper and tell them a little bit about what to expect and to tell him/her that they are looking forward to meeting them! I love the fact that If I choose to pick her up instead of letting her catch the bus, I must provide my "Authorized Pick Up Card"....I love the fact that one of the rules of the camp is that they cannot be mean to each other, no teasing, no cut downs...They have made that a rule so everyone is accepted. I love that there are several counselors in her group so that the kids get alot of one on one attention. I love that I can send a bottle of sunblock in her backpack and the counselors actually help her use it, and or remind her to apply some. I love that they encourage the children to drink their water. I love that they insist on a complete change of clothes and shoes as well as a swimsuit and towel accompany the child everyday. Therefore when I see my daughter she is completely dry inspite of whatever water activity they have had. I love that my daughter has come home with tales of nature discovery, go kart racing, and paddle boating experiences. I love how tired, dirty and worn out my little camper is...and yet she is still smiling. If there is a specific question you would like answered feel free.
