NCSL v BBSL

DS, age 8, is really getting into soccer. We're not at all ready for travel team yet, but I'm trying to learn a little about that world in the event he does want to try out for a U9 or U10 team in the next year or two. I know basically nothing about soccer, never played serious sports as a kid. This child is stretching me as a parent!
The rec club where we plays has teams on both BBSL and NCSL. Can someone outline the differences for me? What are is "too late" to move to travel soccer if a kid has some potential?
Thanks!

It's pretty much irrelevant. Your son will need to try out and if your club's coaches choose him, they will place him on the team in which he can best develop. You won't have a choice about the league. If you really wanted one league over another, then you should find a club that only plays in the league you prefer.
