Angle of the dangle..... Anyone's ultra sound tech been wrong?

Anonymous
Just had a 12 week scan and my ultra sound tech told me about the angle of the dangle theory....anyone have any experience right or wrong?

Well if they saw a penis then it's a boy.

I wouldn't start shopping for a boy based on what a tech saw at 12w.

Apparently that early all babies have a nub and depending at what angle it is it will tell you if its a boy or girl.

It's about 80-90% accurate in 12th week using "angle of the dangle" method. At that age, we all gmhad a penis

A friend's ultrasound tech was wrong the first time around and said the baby was a girl. The same tech did an ultrasound about a week before delivery and said "He's looking great!" and my friend absolutely lost it. The room was pink, the clothes were pink, *everything* was pink. Victoria was stenciled on the wall. It made our whole group of friends pretty wary of gender determination from ultrasounds for a long time and I think my friend was in mourning for the loss of her 'baby girl' even though she was in love with the baby boy that she had.

The tech at my 12 wk ultrasound guessed it's a girl. Cell free dna test came back a boy 2 weeks later.

I know someone who was told her baby was one gender, she prepared for the kid and the baby came out and it was the other (I can't remember if it was boy-->girl or vice versa). For her second baby she declined to find out because of this. I would have been a mess.

We were told boy at a 13 week sono. They were right. It was obvious.

We found out that we're having a girl at 17 weeks when a friend who is an ultrasound tech offered us an early gift to pop in on Christmas Eve for a quick scan so we could surprise our family while we were in town. I asked her if there was any chance of being told something different at our 20w scan. She said she's heard stories but it's never happened to her. (And that at 12 weeks she'd offer to guess for people but would always warn them of it's too early to tell for certain.) She froze the screen and added an arrow to point to the labia on our baby and said there is no chance of a penis suddenly popping up. My 20w scan is tomorrow and I'm not heading into it with any concern about the dresses and bows now filling baby's closet.

For me it's been 2/3 (wrong one was a guess for a girl that turned out to be a boy)

Wrong at 12 weeks, right at 20.

It's rare to get an incorrect boy guess at 12 weeks. For a girl guess I would be far less confident.

This is what I've heard too.
