Online job resources

I haven't applied for a job in ages! I was at the same place for 12 years, then left for 5 to raise kids and am now looking to get back into things. I know that I need to do LinkedIn. What about other online job listing aggregators like monster.com? Do I upload my resume or just check them periodically? I'm obviously working my contacts at the same time, but this whole process has changed so much. I'm trying to avoid being slammed with junk mail.
