I am 22-weeks and have noticed some changes in the overall nature of the baby's kicks. Based on the research and what my OB said, there is really no normal level of kicks but advises to monitor major changes. I have noticed that the kicks are more intense (not painful), frequent, and now I am starting to feel some minor feeling in my cervix region(almost like a pulse) when he kicks. Is this normal? |
I think basically everything is normal. But I can tell you that at around 24-25 weeks I was getting kicks that felt like a hand or foot was going to come through my cervix! Very strange, and a little uncomfortable. The baby was just in a weird position. My midwife said it was unlikely that he was actually that low but that instead his kicks were triggering some nerve that gave the sense that he was lower.
Overall, sensation in the uterus is much less sensitive than other areas of your body (with good reason!). My yoga instructor suggested that I could try a pose to get him to shift. I never ended up doing it. Baby changed position on his own. But, here's what she recommended: Lay on the floor with your calfs/feet supported on a chair or sofa. Lift up your hips into 'bridge' pose, while keeping your upper back and shoulders on the floor. Arms/hands are by your sides, straight in front of you for additional support. I guess the idea is that gravity pulls the baby up into your torso and away from your cervix. I have noticed that the intensity and sensation of the baby's movement has changed (I'm now 28 weeks). So, hang in there. Whatever he or she is doing now probably won't last for much longer. |
I think the biggest worry is if you have a significant decrease in kicks - the babby is getting bigger so not unusual to feel more - but IMO if you have any concerns, that is why we have doctors and nurses to advise us. DOn't hesitate to give them a call if it eases your mind. |
i am still experiencing CONSTANT movement at 33 weeks. My baby seems to be moving all the time, some kicks, but mostly
what feels like full body movements from one side to another. I think it may depend on your size as well, as some people feel more movement who have less fat on their body? My dr. said there is no such thing as "too much movement" but I still feel slightly anxious that this baby can't get comfortble or something....at times, i also feel like a foot or hand is going to come poking out down there... i also experience really painful kicks, down near my ovaires/hip bones. It happens when the baby moves, almost like she is stretching and i feel a kick in the upper part of my uterus, and at the same time, a kick or something down on my lower right side. It has been really painful, but only lasts a couple seconds.... |
Just think about being pregnant with two! I feel like there is a circus going on in my uterus! |
