FCPS School Board policy discussion re: Advanced Academics, Saturday 7/18 @ 9 am

The FCPS School Board will have a policy discussion re: the future of Advanced Academic Programs this Saturday, July 18, from 9 am - 11:15 am at Fairfax High School's George Stepp Library.

The agenda is posted here:

The School Board members have these key issues/questions that they will be addressing at this retreat session:

* What changes, if any, should we make to our programs? For example:
* Groupings at the MS level for center-based and honors courses;
* Open-enrollment honors for MS students at all MSs;
* Adding AAPs at all MSs;
* ES Centers vs. Local Level IV;

* Since we are considered world class what other additions should be considered to maintain or increase our leadership?

* Given our expected continuing budget shortfalls what priorities or program reductions should be considered first if that proves necessary?

* Level I to IV service labels, confusing or clarifying?

Absolutely! School Board members encouraged the public attend when they announced the retreat at last week's School Board meeting.
