I am trying to help a friend with her resume. It's been a long time since I re-worked mine (or anyone else's) so I have a question pertaining to standard lengths of resumes these days. I recall that resumes should really be limited to one page. Is that still the case? Possibly two pages, at most?

Depends on profession.
If you are calling it a resume, it probably means one page. If she's published, then it is a CV, and it can be any number of pages - be careful to still be concise. |
| If she's mid-career, one page may not be enough. If needed you could print it double-sided. If there are lots of publications, then you definitely need more than 1 page. |
| I have quite a few friends who are recruiters, and have worked with recruiters on most of my job searches. Nothing wrong with a 2-page resume if you are mid-career and have had a few jobs. that said, if you've got a 20-year career, you can probably cut out some of the text from your earlier job descriptions, as your duties then would probably not be that relevant now. |

I am a career coach.
Two pages is fine (and standard) for mid-career folks. Make sure to have the name and "Page 2 of 2" on the second page. No need to list "references available upon request" at the end. |
