| We are buying a refrigerator there and wondering if buying the warranty is worth it? 400 dollars for 5 years. |
| We did it. Going 3 years and no problems. They will give you the warranty amount as credit toward a new appliance if you don't use it for 5 years. We are planning to use that for appliances for another property. So not super helpful for you but we ran the numbers and it was worth it to us. |

You definitely need to find somebody who has had to use the warranty before you can tell if it's worth it. I used to always buy the Sears extended warranty on appliances, but when my washer gave out, they took weeks to fix it and I spent more at the laundromat than I didn't on that useless warranty. After that, I never buy the warranty anymore. I'd rather shell out the money to an appliance repair person on a case-by-case basis.
$400 is steep. It probably only covers one repair bill anyway, so you're basically betting yourself you'll need more than one repair in the next 5 years. It probably also overlaps the manufacturers warranty so the first year doesn't even count. |
| No. Bray & Scarff are the worst. Just stick with the manufacturer's warranty. I used them for appliances and a kitchen reno. So useless. I had to project manage the whole thing and act like my own GC. There was no point in paying extra to go through them. |
+1 Actually, OP, you should run, run, run as fast as you can away from B&S. We've had horrible experiences with them. Never again. Do a search on B&S in this forum and you'll find some interesting threads. When I saw the threads they completely validated our experiences. |
