The ABC Afterschool Special that aired in the early 80s. It was so memorable to me that I can still recall the light blue logo that the students made up. Recent events made me think of it. It seemed so improbable 35 years ago that it's almost surreal to see signs of it happening now. They should play this in schools. Apparently, the experiment is required learning in Germany. |
| I was interested in clicking on your link but it took me to OPI's Muppet nail polish collection. |

Yeah, the link is not correct.
I totally remember "The Wave", though. One of the creepiest specials that ever aired, and it was based on a true story. I'm pretty sure I did see it in school. I think one of the social studies teachers showed it to us. I don't quite relate it to today's times, at least not yet. I really don't see students being easily indoctrinated into a movement like this, and kids don't try as hard to fit in the way they used to. I think it's due in large part to social media. Not nearly as much face-to-face interaction. |

I did the same. Who knew OPI had that?! |
| I remember watching it in Hebrew School, maybe more than once. Maybe in regular school too. |
|
I even remember reading a version of it in elementary school.
One other thing that story/movie is linked to in my head is the mini-series V. I missed it as a young kid, but in re-airings, it's a (not at all subtle) nazi allegory. I kinda want to see the documentary mentioned in the huffpo article. |
| I saw it in high school AP history! Wow. And Yes, totally applicable. |
| It explains a lot. Trump really is like Hitler. |
| Yes, we watched it in either history or psych in high school. Disturbing. |
| I don't remember this particular one, but I'm sure I saw it. I used to love the ABC afterschool specials, they should bring those back. |
| They actually have them on DVD. |
|
Based on the novel, The Wave, by Todd Strasser.
|
| Yes. I have actually thought of it a lot lately and I feel like I am watching it happen in real life. It is amazing what group think can do when you make small statements. The kids do not even realize what they are becoming. |
| I never saw it. What happens at the end! |
