Mr. Collins in Pride and Prejudice

Upon rewatching it I feel bad for Mr. Collins. Sure he is not dashing and rich like Mr. Darcy, there is nothing truly awful about him. He earns a respectable living and is affiliated through employment with aristocracy. Why do Lizzie and the rest think him to be so odious?

Also, the creepy version of him in the crappy version of P&P--the one with Keira Knightly is nothing like the book b/c the director didn't actually read the book.

Do yourself a favor read the book and watch the A&E version of P&P.
