22 hour layover in Paris

Thoughts on how to spend? It's just me. I land at CDG at 11AM and leave at 9:40AM. What would YOU do?

Go into the city, walk around, eat, etc. Loaf around a nice hotel or restaurant if I needed a break. Eat some more.

We did this a couple years ago. Went into Paris and checked into a hotel. Went to the Rodin Museum, crepes at a sidewalk cafe, and bought tickets for a sunset tour of the Eiffel Tower. I crashed for a couple hours in the afternoon, but DH also sent to the Musee d'Orsay for a while.

I did this once. Got hotel right by airport because I had am flight. Went to the louvre, did some shopping, went to the Eiffel Tower. It was a fun day.

Just walk - Paris is gorgeous and easy on foot. Hotel by airport, take the RER train to the St Michel stop. See Notre Dame, cross Seine, walk through Louvre courtyard, up to Champs Elysee, up to Arc de Triomphe, down to Effiel Tower, back to RER stop. Stop wherever you want to see more of. Enjoy!!

I would stay by the airport rather than the city. I've stayed in the CDG IBIS Styles for early am flights and have been very happy with it. They'll hold your bags for you while you're in the city.

I did the same this summer and found that it was just as easy to stay at a hotel in St Michel since I was going into the city anyway and didn't have all that much luggage.

Transport to the airport from St Michel is easy enough because the RER is right there, and for such a short time I didn't want to mess with shuttle to hotel, then to RER, then into city...

As for what to do: depends on whether you've been to Paris before and what you like. It's a great walking city, and walking around is a great way to reset your body clock. I might just do Notre Dame, St Chapelle, Louvre, and maybe a walk near the Opera Garnier.

PS Note: I think it might be possible to check your bags through to your final destination and then only carry on/have in Paris what you need. It's worth checking, because it's much easier if you can avoid the baggage claim, checking bags back in, hauling them in Paris, etc.
