| From you women who have been through your 40's, how and when did they start to change. I am 43 and they are getting shorter between (went from 28 day cycles in my 30's to now anywhere b/w 24-26 days). I also am extremely anxious/moody for the 48 hours before, bad headaches...just very different since turning 40. |

I just turned 50 and am going through perimenopause. It started 2 years ago, just before I turned 48.
I would say that my periods started to get heavier and heavier in my mid-forties. My cycle length was fine--27 days, but it got so heavy that I was anemic. I had an ablation when I turned 45. That helped a lot, but over the next couple of years, the heavy bleeding started to creep back. Nothing like before where I was changing an extra plus tampon every hour, but noticeable. As for PMS, I would say that it's really noticeable now that I'm perimenopausal. My breasts can be very sore and I'm more anxious. The hardest part is the insomnia. I will wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to get back to sleep. There's no set pattern. Some cycles I have it, some I don't. Oh no wait, the hardest part is the weigh gain. My metabolism has come to a screeching halt. But I'm determined to not let that get in the way. I've just had to be really diligent about exercise and laying off the breads. Bottomline: it's a $hitshow getting old. But I'm happy to be healthy and alive. |
| It started for me at 43 and by 48 I was completely done. Hang in there! |
| Started for me at 40. Super heavy periods that were still regularly coming on time. Then they were super heavy but would come every few months (around 40.5 yrs old), but then By 42 I was done. 12 months of no period. Went to the doctor fearing a problem and a blood test confirmed early menopause. |

Last baby at 36, then peri symptoms began in form of hormonal shifts after I stopped BF at 37 in forms of cystic acne, migraines.
Now I'm 47 and periods are every two-three months. Mild hot flashes began to be noticeable at 46. Under care of osteopathic physician and mostly rid of acne and migraines and anxiety. Was always kind of fearful of going through menopause early, as my mother did. She had osteoporosis and lost significant bone mass by 45. Learned that her smoking as a teen thru mid 30s contributed and maybe caused early mp. |
| I'm 47 and just started to notice symptoms. Periods still happen every month, but are a little heavier and 25-26 days apart rather than 28-30 like before. I have more random aches and pains, but so far it hasn't been bad. |

Changes in our bodies happen slowly, periods get shorter, weight gain, thinning hair eyelashes and eyebrows, more hair on chin and moustache, bad smell, bloating, dry skin and hair, tired, pee more, this and much more happens in slow motion until you reach menopause, sleep less and feeling crabby good luck!
