How many gifts does Santa bring?
My friend just got upset with me because Santa is supposed to only bring one gift. While I get the idea Santa just brings one to all of the kids, I enjoy seeing their faces the morning of Christmas to numerous gifts and surprises. I obviously don't want other kids to think they didn't get the same as Santa or that my kids were behaved better (nowhere near good). What is the norm for you all? Maybe I need to change my ways. |
| New poll: How many people think OP needs to drop the friend who "gets upset" upon finding out how OP does presents in his/her own home? |

http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/604347.page I actually really enjoyed that thread because it made me realize that it doesn't make sense that Santa brings 29 gifts to my child but some children get nothing. As a child I got a TON of gifts and they were all from Santa. I remember thinking (but never asking)...if I get so many gifts, then why don't poor children get gifts also? Why are there "angel trees"? So for us, I think we'll probably do 3 or so Santa gifts and then the rest from parents or grandparents. My son Is a baby so it doesn't quite matter yet.

| 0. We don't do the Santa thing. |
| When he believed in santa 3 gifts from him, the rest from mom. He no longer believes but I still put santa on one gift. Rudolph brings the pjs on Christmas Eve. Silly but it makes me smile when I wrap. |
| Santa brings about 3 unwrapped gifts - usually one bigger one like a tricycle or wagon. Grandparents, Godparents, etc have wrapped gifts under the tree to open as well. |
| We don't do gifts from parents, they all come from Santa in our house. Each kid gets about 10 gifts, including an outfit, a couple books, socks, a couple toys, and one big thing (this year they each got new sleds). |

Santa brings the big present. This year it was a toy robot. But he also brought some nerf accessories (I didn't feel like wrapping them and they all go into a big red present bag anyway). We parents are responsible for the rest, and they are wrapped in our regular wrapping paper.

1 gift from Santa - usually something specific that the kids asked Santa for themselves.
But by the time they started comparing notes about Santa they stopped believing. Not an issue with what other people do. |
| This year Santa brought 7 gifts, wrapped in their own design of wrapping paper. Plus a couple of small things for the stocking. |
| DS is only 3, but we just put out all the gifts and didn't label who they were from. I don't know if he thinks us or Santa (we haven't really played up Santa) |
| Santa brings one present plus stocking here. Other presents come from mom, dad, and other relatives. |
I do! Santa brings all the kids' gifts in our house. He went a little nutty this year, and they got about 8-10 each (that includes little things like coloring books and slippers and such. Why does she care what your Santa does? I've honestly never heard of Santa only bringing one gift. That's not our tradition. |
| 7 each for two kids. I dont understand the parents that give one present on Christmas, but spoil the kids the other 364 days. If you want to teach your kids not to be materialistic, you have to do it year round. We teach our kids to be careful with what they spend money on year round , but we give a lot on Christmas. |
^ santa gift unwrapped, just with a big red bow, right by the fireplace. The unwrappped tradition began because they were huge gifts that we didn't want to wrap. All other gifts are from family/friends and are wrapped and go under the tree. |
