George Mason elementary in Alexandria City -Views appreciated

Hi

We are moving to DC with the British military and our daughter will be going into first grade.We are thinking of choosing a house within this school area,if anyone has any thoughts or advice it would be greatly appreciated as we need to choose a school before we come over to the States.Thanks

George Mason is a very nice neighborhood school in a lovely, welcoming part of town. Class sizes are getting bigger as people move into the area, but they're smaller at Mason than you'll get in any other public school in Northern Virginia (I don't know the numbers elsewhere). The Alexandria middle schools can still be problematic, but if you'll be leaving prior to middle school time, then that won't be an issue for you. It's a good choice.
