Holiday inn express
Hampton inn |
| Yes, I have had good experiences with Hampton inn. |
| It the south I am seeing more and more Courtyard Marriotts along the highway. Otherwise Hampton Inns |
| Hampton Inn is the best! |
One more here. |
Me, too. Gotta get my Hilton points where I can. |
| Chalk up another vote for Hampton Inn. Always my first choice. |

Varies location to location -- best bet is to look up on Trip Advisor when you're getting close to where you want to stop. Even in the same chain, they can be dramatically different, and sometimes you may not have one particular brand as an option.
Comfort Suites is often nice. Any of the "business class" extended stay places are usually good (Home2Suites, Towneplace) and often have cheap rates on the weekend. Holiday Inn/Express is really hit or miss -- in some areas they're the best thing going, and in others they are hellholes. I travel a lot for work and stay in pre-booked non-highway hotels 80+ nights a year, but then we do several road trips personally and I probably spend 15+ nights a year in highway hotels. Some in god-forsaken parts of the country. It really depends on the specific location when it comes to these motels/hotels. |

Hampton Inn, almost but not always
Quality Inn and Suites, sometimes nice Comfort Inn and Suites, sometimes nice La Quinta, sometimes nice, but sometimes terrible Holiday Inn Express, usually Best Western run the gamut from really really nice to not so nice You can also find random nice ones in random locations, so it's always good to check Trip Advisor beforehand. There's an app for that.
Nearly all of these types of places have free wi-fi, with varying degrees of functionality/reliability. http://www.cheapestdestinationsblog.com/2012/06/12/the-best-cheap-hotel-chains-in-the-usa/ |
| Courtyard Marriott is always fine. We've stayed in them across the country without any issues. |

The Hampton inns I've stayed in were nice enough, but definitely older and a bit worn.
I have has good luck with holiday inn, as several have been recently renovated. |
| I have used Super 8 multiple times this year, and they have worked out pretty well. |
| Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn express - alway comfortable and always clean. Plus, I enjoy having a breakfast ready without having to leave the property. |
