Is this dress inappropriate for an 11-year old?

A relative sent my 11 year old DD this dress. She likes it, but I think it looks like something a 5 year old will wear. I'm afraid she will be teased if she wears it anywhere. (We don't have any formal events ... ever... so if she wears it anywhere, it would be to church or a recital or something like that, where she would probably be terribly overdressed and could conceivably see other girls or boys from the neighborhood.) I hate to push her to be MORE mature, but I also don't want her teased and don't think she has a good barometer for this sort of thing. Should I encourage her to return it? Or am I being overly concerned? I looked online and unfortunately I think all the dresses they have are hideous.

| I think it's lovely. You can dress her hair in a more mature style if you want. I don't think anyone would tease her. |

| This is too frilly for my 11 yo dd, but if it weren't, I would dress her in it for sure. I don't think it looks too immature at all. It's a lovely dress for an 11 year-old. |

| I have an 11 year old - she'd love it for Christmas day or Church. My only complaint would be it is very expensive for a one time wear and my kid could have used that money for 5 pieces but I'm nit picking. |

Very pretty.
An she wear it to Christmas Mass or service? It would be perfect for that. Or, are you going to a theatrical performance or the Nutcracker? It woild be nice for those occasions too. Dress it up with "older" shoes and hair like PP suggested. |

| Beautiful and not at all too young looking. Pair it with block tights and black patent boots and/or a dressy sweater if you like. |
