Men hurting women. It needs to stop! Every single place on earth should be safe for women.

How many women were "hurt"?

I used to call myself a liberal. I wish I was able to articulate how the recent persecutorial, hyper PC, pearl-clutching culture, has turned me against the left.

Keep this BS up, and you'll end up with a generation of young men voting for Trump-like politicians purely out of disgust for the partisan outrage culture.

God, you are so gross. No rules! Say and do whatever you want without consequences! Write misogynistic, racist comments online! Hell, rape women! It's way too PC to respect women, right?

Very true. My son was wearing his Redskins winter hat and a young lady approached him and told him that it was offensive.
He turned the tables on her and told her that he was poor, he got the cap at Goodwill, it was cold, and it was a warm cap in great shape for two dollars. He then apologized to her saying he was sorry that the only cap he could afford triggered her. She literally turned beet red and left with out saying a word.
Love it when their PC nonsense bites them in the rear.

As a women I find it incredibly offensive to equate a man writing something lewd to another man about women to a man raping a woman. It isn't even remotely in the same league. I used to be very liberal but now I can understand why Donald "grab her by the p*ssy" Trump got elected.

And these are supposedly educated men at top schools. In reality, they're just entitled jocks who otherwise have no business being at such prestigious colleges.

+1 This is so over-the-top. We have become a society of victims--even when we are not. When the pendulum sweeps to far in one direction, a correction occurs and it inevitably sweeps back the other. The PC culture is out of control.

If the team is bonding over racism and sexism, suspension of its season strikes me as a reasonable response. The team represents the school and if it's behaving in ways the school finds abhorrent, then withdrawal of support makes sense. It is also a real world lesson at a time when stakes are lower. Creating a hostile work environment can get you sued and/or fired IRL.

I don't think withdrawing the team from competition is the only or best response (depends on the facts), but it may be an important first step in changing the culture/dynamic.

I would not support suspending, expelling or punishing individual boys at a school for pulling this crap. (And I do think it's pretty awful). Even athletes (one or two boys who happen to be on an athletic team, but it is not a team wide issue). But athletic teams are and should be held to a higher standard. They represent their school publicly and at different schools and locations all over the place. If this type of thing goes on with large parts/a significant number of members of a team, and the school does nothing, they are condoning the behavior-- and it makes the entire school look bad. And female students less likely to want to attend in an atmosphere where this is accepted. If that happened with a team at my alma mater, I would expect them to take action. Because I'm proud of the the school I attended, and it is better than that. Harvard and MIT are better than that. No school wants to be tagged as the next Duke LAX.

Like it or not, part of being a student athlete is (or should be) being held to a higher standard when you are or could be perceived as representing your school. Wear a tie on the basketball court when not in uniform. Shake hands. Show manners and be a good sport. It's part of the deal when you take the scholarship and join the team. And yes-- don't degrade women.

So before you get all up in arms about boys will be boys and locker room talk-- ask yourself-- how would you feel if this was your college? Or your kids?

As an aside, I'm a Wake Forest grad cringing and somewhat embarrassed this week that one of our own was involved in Wakeyleaks. I would imagine grads from VT (which has handled their involvement in a classy manner), and to a greater extent Louisville (which has not) feel the same.

Have none of you ever played on a girls sports team or lived in a sorority house--hell, even a dorm. It isn't just males pulling this crap. It is just males suffering the consequences.

If they boys were actually saying this stuff, or sending messages to the girls -- that would clearing be harassing behavior. But it sounds like they just kept some kind of private "burn book," with nasty comments, but it was leaked. Basically, they've committed a thought crime.
