My child sees Dr. Jennifer Kessler at the Behavior Therapy Center in Silver Spring. It's Dr. Mansueto's group.

Has therapy helped? Have meds worked? How often do they attend therapy? My niece did not experience success in therapy and my sister doesn't know where else to turn.

Therapy has helped, but more so for learning strategies to manage trich, not cure it. My daughter went every other week and now goes once a month. I don't know of amy medication used to treat children with trich.

Well Anafranil/Clomipramine sometimes works. I remember some docs even having success curing African Grey Parrots with it, despite the metabolic challenges. (For some reason they are prone to trichotillomania--maybe related to their being uncommonly brilliant and gifted with language).
