Help! I need summer pants.

Anonymous
I recently bought a pair of light brown linen pants from Gap or BR that I thought would be my go-to slightly dressy pants this summer: they've got a bit of a wide leg but are fitted at the top, a little flowy because of the linen, washable, and at a price point where if I get them dirty I won't mind. However, despite following the directinos on the tag, they SHRUNK, a lot. Grr. I am a tall lady so finding pants that fit has always been a challenge.

I admit I hate shopping and generally shop online. But I only shop on a few sites and I can't find any decent alternative to the now too-small Gap/BR pants.

So, with all of that in mind, can anyone recommend a brand or store, preferably one I can access via internet, that sells pants fits all of these criteria? I'd prefer a pair that will cost $100 or less. Something dressier than yoga pants but more casual than suit trousers.

Thanks!

Banana usually makes crisp white chinos in a nice cut. I love white pants for summer go-tos.

I'm 5'8" but my inseam is almost the same as my husband's who is 6'2". I generally have good luck finding pants that are long enough at Ann Taylor. Ann Taylor Loft fits ok too (I favor the Ann cut at Loft). Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft also both offer long cuts too which I sometimes get depending on the style of the pants (I'm right on the bubble). Loft generally is much cheaper in price and quality.

I also never ever stick my pants in the dryer. i don't care what the label says, they always shrink. Especially linen.

Try the "Katherine" linen pants at Chadwicks. They come in different lengths and fit really well -- just below the waist but not too low. The leg is wide, but not too wide. Chadwicks used to be extremely dowdy, but they seem to have improved their stuff lately.

A friend bought a pair of these, and they are really nice - not frumpy like a lot of Land's End stuff. You can choose your own inseam.
