PE, music etc? Just wondering what the norm is.
I did in ES. Plus we gave to the aides in the grade.
No, just because I have too much going on and can't handle the additional time to do this.
I don't. It's just not affordable. My kid is in 3rd grade and has 3 primary teachers for language arts, math and content. If I added specials teachers, I'd have to add: PE (2 teachers), music, technology, media, instrumental, GT, and 2 teachers for the school play he's in (who will get a nice gift after the play). That would be 12 gifts, plus the aide! Not to mention the 2 crossing guards. It's just too much. I do the primary teachers & crossing guards, whom he sees daily - that's 5 gifts. The other teachers are 1-2x per week, and while I appreciate them I can't afford to gift them.
We do handmade cards, nothing fancy, just folded construction paper and my kids drawings. Sometimes we run out of time and do then over break and deliver after the new year.
|
Our school takes up a collection and splits it evenly between the specials teachers and support staff. Even if every family gave on average $10, each person would get roughly $400 then.
I contributed to that collection. |
We do cards with a nice handwritten note from our DC along with nice chocolates.
We just give a gift to the main teacher, the two aftercare teacher, and the aftercare director. I've never done anything for the music, PE, Spanish or the computer teacher. This may change in middle school, though.
Nope.
Only if they are brilliant. Ours are so-so / mediocre so no, absolutely no plans to reward them for that.
DS lets me know if there are a couple that he feels particularly close to. Otherwise, too many to gift.
We don't give holiday gifts, but we do give a small end of the year gift to the specials teachers.
I've been thinking about bringing something into the teachers lounge- like a basket of clementines.
I get them a little something - a small gift bag with a single packet of hot cocoa and a small box of chocolate
My child picks a specials teacher to give to whenever we do something for the main teacher.
