Iceland during inauguration week?

Never been but dying to go and deals as low as $270 on Wow seem so tempting to escape the madness in DC in late January. Tips on good activities for someone in their late 20s on a reasonable budget? 4-5 full days is the target. I know daylight is limited but seems like a great time to catch the Northern lights and maybe some hiking or cross country skiing without paying high season prices.

I'm going the weekend before the inauguration (MLK), also for the first time. We are staying in an Airbnb to save on hotel costs (they are pretty reasonable in Reykjavik) and found a couple of affordable tours. I think for Golden Circle we paid $85 (full-day tour) and for Northern Lights we paid $50. We're also visiting the Blue Lagoon on the way to the airport on Monday - all the advice we heard said to do that on the way from or the way to the airport. From talking to others that have been, I've heard a full day is enough in Reykjavik, so I'd definitely look into day tours. We also wanted to fit in a glacier tour, but there wasn't time.
