| And what are you getting them? |
| Contributed $30 to classroom gift and we are making them cookies and a card. |
| We contributed $20 to the coordinated gift (goes to teachers + staff) and are going to give target gift cards and cookies to the individual teachers. |
| We are giving our DD's head teacher $150 and each of the two assistants $100. She's 10 months. |
You are talking about daycare, PP. OP is asking about preschool teacher gifts. |
Lol at a 10 month old having a "teacher" |
| Our preschool class gave $25/teacher so it varied with each classroom |
| Contributed $40 to class gift and will give them $50 amazon cards each (2 teachers). |
| I ended up giving only $10 a person because preschool gave a list of all staff who help with the children or school in general throughout the day and my son had 12 people - main teachers, assistants, french teacher, art teacher, office staff, maintenance, aftercare staff. |
That's a gift grab (sending a list like that). The classroom teachers (and aftercare, if applicable) spend the most time with your kid, and they deserve a gift. |
Yes, I find it very annoying but the whole school does this and the staff is presented with gifts during the holiday program. I feel cheap giving each person so little even though it adds up to $120. I suppose I could give more, but I figured that if everyone gave at least as much as I did, the staff would be getting pretty good gifts. |
How incredibly tacky. The staff are presented with gifts at the holiday program, really? Yuck. |

somewhere around $1000 total, maybe a bit more. We give cash gifts.
To explain how we can up with that, we used to have a nanny and I was told by my friends who had nannies they gave about 1 week of pay as a rule for the annual bonus, so we did that when we had a nanny. We are applying the same rule here but it is complicated in that we have 2 kids in preschool/daycare (and no nanny), so about $1000 per week in costs. They each have 2 main teachers and 2 aides, and one of my DCs recently switched "classes" so I need to also gift the old teachers as well as the new ones, so the funds are being split by about 10 people. So it is not really that much per person, and I wish I could give more - I really appreciate the care the teachers/aides give my kids. FWIW, while we have a relatively high HHI (we need to in order to pay for preschool/daycare for 2 DCs in a close-in suburb!), we don't make enough that this doesn't impact our monthly expenditures or that I can just write a check for the entire amount without planning for it. I save money out of my paycheck each month starting in August in order to be able to give these gifts, and I budget for it each month and prioritize it over other expenditures. |
| $20 Target giftcard to each teacher, a handmade card from DD with a note from us, and a tin of fudge each. |
| Which gift cards are the best? Amazon? target? |
