Child Support Calculator

| How many of you follow the calculator for your state in regards to child support levels? I am getting a lot of push-back from my child's father that it is way to high. I figure that it is based upon research, and allows the child to have a lifestyle they would have lived if the parents stayed together. |

| Does that mean that you are not receiving child support through the state? If not,I would highly recommend you go through the process to collect child support through the state. It takes a while to go through the process and is a lot of paperwork but it is worth it. My son's father was ordered to pay X amount by the judge based on his income/expenses, etc. It comes directly out of his paycheck into my checking account. There is no discussion about it. Now we are free to talk about our child rather than how much he owes me, etc. |

Here's a link to Maryland's calculator. I love that this is online. It's the formula the courts use. My son's dad and I use it to figure out shared support (ah, joint custody). Scroll towards the bottom of the page.

| well this is the mediation thing so i dont have a lwyer yet my court date isnt for awhile and I since i think he will agree to the discussed custody between us im hoping to avoid the lawyer ... if he wont then I will be calling a lawyer ASAP so feel free to recommend i live in NOVA |

Ah, well, no mediation for us - straight to lawyers... I hope he agreed - let us know. |

I will ... I really hope things go okay today im nervous.. Im more nervous about him reneging when he realizes about how much the support will be for our baby ... and try for 50/50 and i wont agree to overnights.. we co sleep and my son needs to be with the same person every night ..

update I got my primary custody no overnights he gets twice a week and one weekend day plus dads bday and fathers day so im happy
now I have file for child support its separate... so Ill do that tomorrow |
