Infertility book reading this Sunday at Politics and Prose

I thought I'd post this here (I promise I am not the author!!!!) since it might be of interest. The book is pretty good (although if you've been dealing with infertility for a long time you probably already know most of the info in the book). The reading is at Politics and Prose on CT Ave.

Navigating The Land Of If
(Seal Press, $16.95)
"IF" is the abbreviation for "infertility" in the online world—and there are so many “IF”s in that land. Melissa Ford presents a guide for navigating the complex world of infertility, based in part on her own experiences.

I was infertile for years, but now I am pregnant with twins and I look it. I would be fascinated to hear this reading, but I wouldn't want to step on anyone's toes who is dealing with IF. I know how hard it is deal with and I know how sensitive I was around pregnant women, when i was going through treatment. Would you go if you were in my shoes?

YES! You are a success story, proving that it can be overcome! Congratulations....

I'm the OP and I think you should go. Given that it's a book reading about infertility, I think that people there would assume that you have been touched by infertility in some way or you wouldn't be there. Plus, the author of the book now has twins, so she may have some good tips for you. Congrats, by the way!!

As someone struggling with IF, I do not have the same gut reaction around formerly IF but now pregnant women as I do around the fertile myrtle types who just think I ought to "relax" or "consider adoption" or (fill-in-the-insensitive-statement blank here). Women who have struggled with IF have an empathy borne of experience. People will be happy for you.

I have the same view as 16:44 - I feel differently about women whom I know have struggled with IF and then become pregnant than those who get pregnant easily and don't know what IF is like.
