logistical question about filing police report for damage to a zipcar

hello. i scraped the side of zipcar on a low wall pulling out of a driveway/alley. damage is minor. zipcar says they need a police report. they also said the cops won't care if i call them and that i have to go to station. anyone know what this will entail and roughly how much time this take? and do i go to the police station where i scraped the car or where i live?
i am in nw dc. thanks in advance for any insight. |

Read their FAQs on damage or call & ask another rep. Why would this require a police report?
