I LOVE the name Nora, but I feel like I hear it often -- either as a given name, or as a nickname for Eleanor. Is it as common as I think? It seems common already and increasing in popularity. Is that your sense too?
Super popular over the last 5 years. I know 7 of them.
Ooooh yeah I think you're on to something. It's so popular!
|
Wow, look at that incline on the chart. Definitely a trendy name right now. Nice name though!

I met so many babies named Nora when my oldest was born 6 years ago. Not so much nowadays with my youngest.

Anyone here follow names closely enough to know what the next "hot" names will be?
I am naming a girl, and I am afraid of picking a name that sounds somewhat unusual to me (but is similar to the really popular names, because I like the old fashioned ones) and then it taking of. It would be like picking Jennifer in 1965 and then having it shoot up in popularity two years later. |
Darn, I also love Nora. What about Cora?
I'm guessing Nora, Eleanor, Lucy, and maybe Clara for names that are currently not in the top 10 but will be soon. Anyone else?
I haven't met a single Cora! Love that one.
Just named my baby girl Nora. Was definitely hesitant due to its recent popularity but my husband and I picked it years ago (2 boys ago, she is our fourth and only girl) when it was not that popular and we couldn't get on board with anything else. I'm hoping it doesn't make the top 10. I went with it since I don't know any other Nora's but if I did, I think I would've chosen something different.

Nora is lovely, PP. Even with very popular names, your child is unlikely to be one of more than two, max, in her class, because there are so many names to choose from these days.
I would pick a popular one if it were the only one we both liked or were a family name or something -- but as it is, we are wide open, so we'd like to avoid anything too common. That doesn't mean we're judging other people who use them, though! |
I love Nora too but it's not on our list because of popularity (and particularly after a friend used it). Cora is on the list though!
I have a teen Nora and it's climbed from like the 1000th most popular way up into the top 50. Oh well!
It's a grandma name
I know three Coras under four yo. So good call on its rising popularity!
