Looking for MoCo speech/language pathologist with expertise in cluttering

Anonymous
My 12 y.o. DS just received a diagnosis of "cluttering" - a speech diagnosis related to, but different from stuttering. Has anyone had a good experience with a speech pathologist in Montgomery County for treatment for cluttering?

Try National Speech. They have Stuttering clinic. The SLP who runs it is wonderful and we've been with her for years.

Thanks. I have a call into them.

This place has a good reputation:

Otherwise, maybe try the UMD speech clinic?

Interesting. Not OP but did you get a genetic test?

Not that poster, but our developmental ped did one early on for rule outs. Talk to your ped. Its a bit extreme to say cluttering is related to Fragile X, so are many other things. I wouldn't rush to have one done. Ours found nothing.

A few of the staff specialize in stuttering and older kids needs. I'd go with the director (never tried April) but we are with the one who runs the stuttering clinic and she's terrific.

I second National Speech or Vivian Siskin at UMD. She often is not accepting private clients but sometimes she does. She will have good recomendations.

UMD is amazing, and Vivian Siskin is wonderful.

re fragile x
yes cluttering can be related to many things
also fragile x is underdiagnosis - especially the kids with normal to smart cognition and just anxiety and ADHD - the carriers.
easy genetic test by pmd

What is with this message board that when a parent looks for a resource, someone has to spew an alternative diagnosis and tell that parent they are doing it all wrong?

Maybe people are trying to be helpful after learning from their own experiences?
