Valentines Day

Anyone have any special plans?


I am going to take DH out to a special lunch. He really isn't in to things like Valentines Day, so, I will entice him to lunch with the announcement of a coupon in my purse.

I am going to go out tomorrow and get the kids each a small box of chocolates.

Have to admit -we do not do anything special for Valentines Day - DS is too young and DH is out of town.....so will just send an email!

We don't do Valentine's Day, or Mother's Day, or Father's Day. They're just commercial days to sell flowers and stuff. Both my husband and I are the sort of people who don't go along with things just because everyone else does. Of course, for this to work, you BOTH have to think this way, or someone's going to get their feelings hurt! Plus, it doesn't mean we don't give gifts, flowers, etc., just not on the days that Hallmark tells us to. We do celebrate birthdays though.

I love Valentine's Day!! Not as a romantic, go out to dinner and buy diamonds kind of day, but just for fun.

We buy balloons for the kids, and my DD and I made pink cupcakes so she can have a friend over tomorrow. She also wanted to decorate the house, so we bought little window decorations. For dinner, I always have something red - maybe berries for dessert in heart-shaped ramekins. And of course, we drink pink milk (we make it green for St. Patty's and we're not Irish. why not?)

You don't have to spend money and support Hallmark, but I think holidays are just such fun. We always did stuff like this when I was a kid and I have great memories of all these little holidays.
