How to wash plush toys with batteries?

Anonymous
We have a ton of baby/toddler toys that were barely used but a few years old. i.e. Elmo, Fisher Price light up toys, etc. Also have a million of those Infantino/Lamaze toys that are babies play with that are a mix of stuffed animal and plastic. Having a baby in 2 months.

How do I wash/clean these toys for the new baby?

I'd hate to just throw them all away and buy new since they were barely touched by my son.

Spot clean with a damp rag. Did you check the websites? They might suggest a specific kind of cleaning agent to use.

Can you take the battery pack out?

I don't think I can. That was what I was first wanting to do. I wanted to take battery pack out and throw in washing machine.

Can I at least throw the toys with plastic in the washing machine?
Or should I run them through the dishwasher?

Plastic toys I'd either handwash/soak wash or put in dishwasher.

You cannot wash toys that use batteries in the dish washer or clothes washer. As a pp said, you must spot clean them with a damp cloth. I wipe any plastic or plush battery-operated toys with a hand wipe and let it dry completely.
