NVSL age cut offs

What is the cut off between age divisions in tye Northern VA Swim League?

Is it January 1? Or date as of the start of the season?

I have an 8 year old with a late April bday. She turns nine this spring, but is nowhere close to swimming two full lengths. She loves swim team but worries she will be the only one who can't do the two lengths when she moves up. She is small for her age (about the same size as most six year olds) and does it for fun (strictly B team material).

We are new to this whole swim thing. I have been looking online but cannot find thae age cut offs anywhere.

Thanks!

Age at meet governs. Kids sometimes age up during the season. Try a winter program to increase her stamina.

Thank you!

She is doing winter swim but is still in the group that only does one length. She is right in the thick of things when with kids her size but way slower than kids her age.

I am sure that when she starts swimming every day she will build the stamina to do the full distance.

This is not true. This was the case a few years ago, but it has since changed to the swimmers age as of June 1. See Article IV on page 2.

Do B meets follow the same age rules?

NVSL is the summer league. The age cut off is 5/31. Year round swimming PVS is you swim your age at the time of the meet. OP your 8 year old daughter will swim 9-10 this summer as she will be 9 on June 1. 9-10 swim 50 meters in all strokes but Butterfly (still a 25)
