High Point University?

Would like to hear any experiences at High Point. Our daughter loved it on the visit, but we don't know anyone who goes there. Thanks.

Rich kids who don't have to work or who can work in their family's conglomerate. With all seriousness.

Agree. It's hardly a university

And, the tuition and fees are exorbitant. Don't waste your money.

Why do you say it's a waste of money? I have heard it has really improved in recent years and that you can get a great education there. Lots of investments made in improving the school.

It's beautiful, the school does amazing things to keep the students happy... Like a ice cream truck that has free ice cream.

It's about $47k. People act like that is a lot but most other out of state tuitions are $50+.

It has a good business school.

People in this area are very snobby so they will say negative things about any school South and every school that is more that 30% acceptance rate.

There was a documentary and this school was featured. Kids get suckered by their "state of the art" facility and end up paying for expensive students loans with no job prospects after graduation.

It would be wise to look elsewhere. There are plenty of other options that would give you a better education and your diploma wouldn't raise concerns with future employers. It isn't worth it!!!

Why do you say concerns with future employers? What would be a comparable school (as far as acceptance rate) that might be more well respected?

Any state school, first tier or second tier.

The OP asked for first hand experiences at High Point. Does anyone have any? None of the above comments mention any first hand accounts.

I grew up in that area of NC. The people in my graduating class who went were not impressive, and did not end up coming out and doing anything much. In all seriousness, the would have been better with a community college education. It was barely one step above Phoenix University. Maybe things have gotten better in the last 20 years-- but it would have to get a LOT better before I would even consider it for a kid of mine.

If you want a nice private campus in the same area with a significantly better school, look at Guildford College.

You can't compare it to 20 years ago.

The article linked explains why.

Elon followed this model of investment to raise the caliber of the school with some success. I am from NC and am always surprised when people discuss Elon as a serious option on this board.
