Priebus today said the new administration would temporarily suspend immigration from those countries or regions where terrorism is festering.
So Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Turkey, Somalia, Nigeria...what other countries? This list would have to include Saudia Arabia, too, right? But who honestly thinks Trump would allow that to happen, given his Saud business ties? (He's got that enterprise going in Jeddah.) Can't you see one of his Saudi business partners calling him up and saying WTF, and then Trump taking them off the list? And what about France? And what about Turkey? They're also a NATO ally. Not wise to piss them off. Also Priebus said "immigrants" but do you think they really mean anyone coming from these countries even just to visit? http://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/priebus-certain-foreigners-will-be-barred-from-us-231681 |
| France comes to mind. |
| We/ve had quite a few terrorists who were born here. Can we close the borders of the states where they were born to protect the rest of us? |
The last terrorist gay omar from florida had an ex wife he hit and abused who said he was fine and non racist up to high school then started going to afghanistan often for months or a year at a time. Thing is he was probably listening to a radical imam preach there and in florida |

start with this framework, NSEERS, which was instituted under 43
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Security_Entry-Exit_Registration_System Group 1: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Sudan or Syria Group 2: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Eritrea, Lebanon, Morocco, North Korea, Oman, Qatar, Somalia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen Group 3: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Group 4: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait These are the countries I would bar immigrants from: All of the above listed except for Jordan. I would also add: Albania |
You're going to bar immigrants from North Korea? I would bet the only "immigrants" coming from there would in fact be defectors who escaped. Also you're going to have to check on Trump's business ties to any of those countries before you institute a ban. |
Sudan has one of the toughest anti-terror programs in Africa. We have a really poor political relationship with them, but a very close CT relationship. North Korea? Really? |
| Doesn't Cheeto have business interests in at least some of these countries? |
Oh, you mean the program that failed and was eventually suspended? You want to try that one again? http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/18/politics/nseers-muslim-database-qa-trnd/ I feel like a Trump Presidency is going to be GWB all over again, but with more corruption and less competence. |
Yup. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/a-scramble-to-assess-the-dangers-of-president-elects-global-business-empire/2016/11/20/1bbdc2a2-ad18-11e6-a31b-4b6397e625d0_story.html?hpid=hp_rhp-top-table-main_trump-global-806pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory But I'm sure Trump will make decisions with the American people, and not his own business interests, in mind. |
nah doubtful we'd ban a W. European nation |
I didn't vote for Trump either, but I'm not going to revert to my 12 yo self and refer to him as Cheeto. Maybe between now and 2020 you could mature, too. |
NP. Now if you could get that point across to the 12-year old adults who refer to Obama out of his name. |
Cheeto is disrespectful to snack foods in general. Cheeto Jesus is more apropos. |
I totally agree. It's childish, crass and disrespectful coming from EITHER side. |
